challenge: april ABS

The latest Art Bead Scene challenge is up – for April – and the ‘inspiration’ is below:
It’s a painting created during the Northern Song dynasty, on silk, by Emperor Huizong. ABS supplied a colour palette, but mine own is below:
Although I liked the ABS palette, when I make my piece I want to concentrate on the freshness of the leaves against the brown background, tree, and birds – and maybe pick up on the Chinese calligraphy on the side – hence the brighter, citrus colours in my palette. The spikiness of the leaves is appealing in contrast to the ‘conversation’ the birds seem to be having! I’m very excited about this project and will blog about it on the way.
In other news I may have the opportunity to do a metalwork and silversmithing short course at the local college, which would be more than fantastic but may cause a clash of time, money, energy…we’ll see.
